LeBron James

LeBron Raymone James was born in Akron, Ohio, to a single teenage mother. His early life was marked by instability — at one point he and his mother had no permanent home. Basketball became his anchor. By the time he was at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School, he was on the cover of Sports Illustrated with the headline "The Chosen One." The weight of expectation at 17 would have crushed most people.

Drafted 1st overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2003 at 18 years old, James delivered on every promise. He won NBA Rookie of the Year and became the youngest player to score 50+ points in a game. He took the Cavaliers — a franchise with zero history of success — to the NBA Finals in 2007 with sheer individual brilliance.

The Decision (2010), his televised announcement to leave Cleveland for Miami, made him the most polarizing figure in basketball. It was also the right move. With Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, James won his first two championships (2012, 2013) and learned to truly lead a team rather than carry one. He returned to Cleveland and delivered something unprecedented: a championship comeback from 3-1 down against a 73-win Golden State Warriors team in 2016.

In 2023, James became the NBA's all-time leading scorer, surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's record that had stood for 38 years. As he approaches 40, he continues to play at an elite level — a testament to his almost superhuman dedication to body maintenance and conditioning.
